Supporting sales representatives through education, advocacy and connections

The Electronics Representatives Association’s CEO, Ed Smith, explains how collaboration, education and advocacy help strengthen the role of manufacturers’ representatives

It is the mission of the Electronics Representatives Association (ERA) to advance and support the professional field sales function in the global electronics industry by providing programs, services and activities that educate, inform and advocate for manufacturers’ representatives, the principals they represent and the distributors who are representatives’ partners in the marketplace.

To fulfill its mission, ERA offers a wide array of programs, services and activities, including: the annual ERA Conference for reps, manufacturers and distributors; virtual training for sales and chapter officer leadership; and the Manufacturer’s Rep Toolkit.

Members can also access: the ERA HoverMap – Search reps and view DTAM information by territory; Lines Available posting service for manufacturers; Lines Available bulletin for reps; ERA LIVE virtual discussion sessions; and ERA SearchLink.ai—an AI-driven search tool for sales reps.

Networking opportunities are provided by local networking and programs sponsored by ERA Chapters, plus The Representor magazine, published quarterly for electronics industry reps, manufacturers and distributors. Members also have access to contract guidelines, white papers, experts, consultations and survey results/data.

ERA’s most recent endeavors include a new online Career Hub that provides job postings, recruitment tips, job fair tips and resources for industry beginners and the new MentorUP program which will begin facilitating mentoring connections for ERA members in the second half of 2026.
