Associations supporting growth, quality and collaboration
ESNA’s publisher, Mark Leary, examines the role associations play in advancing standards, supporting purchasing and strengthening relationships in the electronics ecosystem
Exhibiting at the Del Mar Electronics Show, San Diego provided ESNA’s publisher, Mark Leary, with the opportunity to explore the role of associations within the North American electronic component supply chain.
Three associations were invited to contribute to this two page feature, to provide readers with an insight into their mission and how they serve the sector.
The Global Electronics Association focuses on strengthening supply chains, supporting industry standards and helping companies remain competitive in a rapidly evolving marketplace. The Association’s president and CEO, John W Mitchell, explains how collaboration, advocacy, market intelligence and sustainability initiatives help manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, OEMs and EMS providers address shared challenges while improving resilience across the global electronics value chain.
The Independent Distributors of Electronics Association (IDEA) focusses on quality, accountability and counterfeit mitigation within the independent distribution market. IDEA’s executive director, Faiza Khan, outlines how the association’s Responsible Procurement Solutions, together with standards, training, auditing and inspector certification programmes, help purchasing professionals reduce sourcing risk and improve confidence when procuring obsolete, allocated and hard-to-find electronic components.
Supporting the sales channel, the Electronics Representatives Association (ERA) is dedicated to advancing the professional field sales function throughout the electronics industry. ERA’s CEO, Ed Smith, explains how education, advocacy, networking and professional development programmes help strengthen the role of manufacturers’ representatives while creating stronger connections between principals, distributors and customers. Through conferences, training, digital resources and mentoring initiatives, ERA continues to support the next generation of electronics industry professionals.
